Double mechanical seals
Application
In pumps and units, sealed with petroleum products, liquefied hydrocarbon gases, fluids containing harmful chemical substances.
Most effective in media with higher content of abrasive agents, as well as in high-viscosity products and in partly dry friction conditions.
Double face seals (YTD) are used at working medium temperatures up to 200°C; double face seals with a cooling unit (YTTX) are used at working medium temperatures up to 400°C.
Modifications
- With impeller. Used if off-line buffer fluid circulating system is employed.
- Without impeller. Used if buffer fluid circulating system from external source is employed.
- With shaft cooling unit or without it.
Features
- Leakage of working medium to the atmosphere is excluded.
- The first (sealed medium side) seal face functions at differential pressure between buffer fluid and medium, and the second (atmosphere side) - at differential pressure between buffer fluid and atmosphere.
- Pressure of buffer fluid is 0,1 - 0,3 MPa higher than medium pressure.
- Buffer fluid is chemically non-corrosive, non-toxic liquid compatible with sealed medium.
- Usage of a cooling unit allows creating favourable temperature conditions for sealing.
- Usage of various cooling fluids: industrial water, antifreeze, diesel oil, etc.
- Manifold is done in compliance with API 682 standard: Plan 53 or Plan54.
